This Too Shall Pass
This Too Shall Pass: December 2023
Works displayed in Gallery Section under exhibition name.
This Too Shall Pass embraces and celebrates our emotional experiences, fleeting, impermanent, transient. In these paintings -- each one a visual narrative -- ever changing weather patterns are metaphors for the nature of emotion. The ephemeral beauty of cloud formations evoke joy and contentment. Fierce and thunderous skies suggest unease and despair. The smothering grey fog rolls in but shortly after makes way for blue skies.
Like the constantly shifting weather, our lives are a succession of passing moments, both joyous and sorrowful, each giving way to the other, again and again. Neither ominous storm clouds nor serenely blue skies are endpoints. They transform continually. This Too Shall Pass is dedicated to my sister, who inspired the idea and has shown me that embracing this concept provides perspective, resilience, and hope.
