About me
Karen Ames is an artist working and living in San Francisco. Primarily a landscape painter, she is currently working on a series entitled "this too shall pass" focusing on the transient beauty and power of clouds in various forms. Karen wants to somehow capture the idea that emotions come and go just like fog. Blue skies are joyful but don't last forever. Even in the midst of a summer thunderstorm, you can look forward to the cool calm that follows. The series is inspired by a recent family tragedy and the beginning steps toward resolution.
Karen began painting at the start of the pandemic when the cultural world closed down and her forty-year career as a senior communications executive came to an end. At that point, she picked up a brush for the first time and began the journey of becoming a painter.
